Osteopathic Examination
Osteopathy is a holistic examination and treatment method that understands the person and their body as a whole.
During a comprehensive initial consultation, an individual and thorough system anamnesis is conducted, in which subjective problems and complaints are discussed. This also includes bio-psycho-social aspects, lifestyle, circumstances, and influences. Important factors include previous illnesses, injuries, surgeries, dietary habits, complications at birth, etc.
Based on a physical examination and through precise manual diagnostics, the three systems of osteopathy are examined separately and in relation to each other.
Among other things, mobility, movement and tension relationships, elasticity, and blockages of the tissue are investigated and observed.
Functional disorders and dysfunctions, as well as biomechanical and biochemical interrelations and influences, are considered. Problems, complaints, or deficiencies are identified through differential diagnosis and are linked to the personal problematic context. The root cause, known as the primary lesion, is sought, which can be far from somatic complaints (secondary dysfunction).
The osteopathic treatment method requires solid theoretical knowledge and comprehensive practical understanding of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and biomechanics, as well as neurology and pathology.
The understanding of the interaction and behavior of all these individual structures as a functioning unit, in both healthy conditions and in cases of illnesses and their functional disorders, plays a crucial role and is central to osteopathic treatment and examination.
Conventional medical examinations and further assessments by doctors, MRIs and X-rays, blood tests, etc., are always considered and consulted when necessary.
A good interdisciplinary collaboration is very important to us for the benefit of our patients and clients.
