PREVENTION, SPORT, AND MOVEMENT – HOW DOES IT WORK?
November 6, 2017
USE IT OR LOSE IT
Everybody has heard it. Everybody knows it, in fact. But why exactly?
The body functions similarly to a machine – if you leave a car unused for too long, it begins to deteriorate. The same goes for the human body. Regular movement is necessary to keep the joints well-oiled and prevent rusting, ensuring the entire human body functions well as a whole. Otherwise, over time, various physical complaints, dysfunctions, and diseases can arise, affecting the musculoskeletal system (joint pain, muscle pain, knee pain, headaches, back pain, lumbago, osteoarthritis, etc.) and also the internal organs (constipation, stomach, and digestive issues, etc.), leading to a general, ongoing deconditioning of the body paired with decreased performance and quality of life.
In the case of an acute incident, osteopathy is an excellent choice, and at BodyLab Osteopathy Zurich, you are in very good hands. Through mobilizations and manipulations, the osteopath addresses mechanical blockages and alleviates pain; concurrently, rehabilitation and rebuilding training begins with the physiotherapist.
Your physiotherapist at BodyLab Physiotherapy Zurich will develop an individualized exercise program tailored to your specific issues and current state of complaints.
The goal is to initially train and improve simpler but eventually more complex and challenging everyday movements, which demand and enhance endurance abilities, flexibility, strength, speed, coordination, and stability. We believe that coordination skills, both intra- and inter-articularly, play a crucial role.
To prevent a visit due to pain and discomfort, it’s important to move regularly. Life is movement, and humans are designed to move – not to be anchored to an office chair like a tree to the ground. Ultimately, it doesn’t take much time to maintain and keep our bodies healthy. An hour of movement per day acts preventively. Whether this is 60 minutes at once or twice 30 minutes - except for conditioning and endurance training - isn’t as crucial. The main thing is that you move (more).
