Basic Life Support (BLS)
May 17, 2022
An emergency situation can occur anywhere and anytime, often unexpectedly.
Fortunately, such serious incidents are rare, but it’s even better when life-saving immediate measures (Basic Life Support BLS) and procedures are refreshed, practiced, and drilled regularly! The first few minutes with an unconscious, non-breathing person are the most critical. A good chest compression is at the heart of successful resuscitation and essentially determines the course and outcome for the affected person.
For this reason, we focused on the topic of emergency situations and resuscitation during one of our internal training sessions at BodyLab Osteopathy and Physiotherapy | Rehabilitation and Training in Zurich.
We wanted to refresh our knowledge and be as prepared as possible for an emergency in practice or even in everyday life.
Therefore, we invited Patric Egger from reaplus GmbH. Patric spent an entire afternoon training us on emergency situations according to the latest guidelines of the Swiss Resuscitation Council (SRC) and went through many different issues with us theoretically, as well as practically.

Since the course took place at our BodyLab practice, we were able to carry out the practical tasks right in our familiar working environment.
This year, we have also acquired an AED, an Automated External Defibrillator, for the BodyLab premises. Patric instructed us on the precise handling and application of our device and explained everything.
With a training AED, which matched the model of our own, we were able to practice and train the use and procedure of resuscitation with manual chest compressions and AED support on dummies.

During the resuscitation, we all quickly got quite a workout and once again had to realize how exhausting a properly performed manual chest compression is. And how grateful you are in such a situation, not to be alone but to have support from other people…
The course refreshed all our existing knowledge, and we now feel more confident and prepared should an emergency ever occur; which we of course hope will never happen….
We thank Patric Egger from reaplus GmbH, who conducted a very educational, exciting, and entertaining course for all of us with his knowledge and practical examples.
If you need us, we're gladly here for you!
