4 Years of BodyLab
August 30, 2020
Just over 4 years ago, we opened the doors to our BodyLab Practice | Osteopathy and Physiotherapy | Rehabilitation and Training, at Albulastrasse 50 in Zurich Altstetten for the first time. We had a dream, a vision – we had a goal… And so we embarked on our journey. How exciting and challenging it would be, we didn't know then... But before we could start with our actual therapeutic work, we first had to "build" a practice, with all that entails. That was quite challenging and not so easy; after we found what seemed to us to be the ideal location and the right premises, we were able to plan the practice entirely according to our wishes and ideas.

The time was turbulent and intense, but we consider ourselves very lucky with how everything worked out and are very aware that things could have gone differently….
Thus, our practice grew and developed, new amazing people joined the team, complemented, challenged, and enhanced us and our skills.

Besides the educational and exciting, but sometimes hectic and exhausting daily business, we also experienced many beautiful and fun moments outside working hours with our team in these 4 years: our team trip to Mallorca was unforgettable (we are all already looking forward to the 5th anniversary, which will be a great event if Corona doesn’t completely thwart our plans...), the via ferrata and the suspension bridge on Jegihorn, the rafting in the Ötztaler Ache, the burgers at Korners, the tacos at the Taqueria, ...

Beyond Work: Team Events and Trips
We really had many wonderful, shared adventures; but indeed, we also worked very, very hard. And so it happened that after just a few years, we were already reaching the capacity limits of our premises. The thought and hope to expand at some point and rent additional space was there from the beginning of our considerations. That this then also came together at an almost ideal time for BodyLab and with a lot, a lot of goodwill from our immediate neighbors BATIMO AG Architects as well as our landlord Migros Pension Fund MPK, is indeed fortunate or whatever you may call it…. We are very grateful for this readiness and support and do not take it for granted, so that we could realize our project in this way!

Unfortunately, then came Corona and the lockdown, which really disrupted our project again. On one hand, unexpected and unplanned new risks and challenges came our way due to this situation. On the other hand, our construction phase schedule was completely thrown off track.
However, we were able to overcome these challenges together. Delayed but no less beautiful, our expansion is now slowly but surely nearing completion! Good things take time... We expect the full operation of the new premises to begin on August 31, 2020.
In addition to the expansion of the practice, we also invested again in our ventilation system of the already existing rooms, to improve the air quality and thus the comfort for our clients and patients, as well as for our employees. Therefore, we could not avoid closing BodyLab for a few days and adhering to a well-organized, very tight schedule: Any delay resulting in a longer closure of the practice would have had major consequences for us and our patients and had to be avoided at all costs. We would like to thank all our neighbors, clients, and patients as well as our wonderful employees for their understanding, flexibility, and support during this hectic time. Thank you very much!
The Practice Expansion
So, after exciting 4 years, BodyLab is taking a new step, developing further, growing, slowly (only slowly) growing up…

In addition to enlarging the premises, we have already strengthened our team: since mid-July, Tim Knott has been part of the BodyLab crew as a Physiotherapist BSc, and since August 17, Benjamin Frei, also a Physiotherapist BSc, and Melissa Schärer as support in administration have joined the team. We are also very happy about this and welcome Tim, Benjamin, and Melissa very warmly with us, nice to have you with us. You have made a great start and we feel fortunate to have you on board.
We are eagerly looking forward to what the coming years will bring. It will certainly be a bit quieter (which is good). It certainly won't progress quite so quickly anymore (which is also good and necessary). But we are convinced that it will continue. There are still many ideas, dreams, visions that we will try to realize... And there is still so much more, where – and where – we can continuously improve. This is our ambition. This is our motivation and our goal. For our patients. And for us.
We are looking forward to it.
Welcome – If you need us, we are happy to be there for you!
